And even though he was determined to uncover the mystery of Delusions, it still wasn’t enough to kickstart his ambition. His original ambition and faith died the day Crepus did and furthermore, with the coverup of his death. In Diluc’s case, the performance with his Vision wasn’t noticeable as he discarded it not long after losing his ambition and took up his father’s Delusion in its place. Upon regaining their ambition or developing a new one altogether, their Vision and abilities will flare back to life. The brightness of the stone’s glow will also lessen. If one loses their ambition while their Vision is still in their ownership, then their proficiency with it suffers. The answer to that leads me to the following: If the loss of one’s Vision equates to the loss of one’s ambition, then what does that mean for Diluc who discarded his Vision and whose ambition was once closely linked to his father? There will be a bit of canon divergence on this subject to tie in Diluc’s backstory more in a way that doesn’t feel as much like a continuation error.
